Monitoring & Evaluation

We will be adopting Participatory Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (PMEL) at all level. Our PMEL approach will focus on seven principles; indirectness of impact, depth of impact, network driven change, uncertainty, sensitivity to external signals, information deficit & sustainability. PMEL will also give good balance and focus on accountability, responsiveness, effects, impacts and longevity of our legacy. It will be achieved through; Participation (with the Right people); Systematic thinking (the right vision): with Zoom in and zoom out; and Facilitation (the right efforts). MRC Nepal views monitoring and evaluation as a participatory forward looking process that enables capacity building and learning, maintains accountability, promotes sustainability, provides opportunities to identify and communicate lesson learned from the project experience. The monitoring will be focused on inputs monitoring; process monitoring; output monitoring; outcome and impact monitoring. Based on the type of monitoring, frequency has developed which guides time interval as quarterly, half yearly and annual basis.

Photo documentation as baseline and baseline case stories will be performed for analysis to find current performance against to the expected level for a specific activity in the project period. Baselines give the project management team a best way to understand project progress (by analyzing baseline vs. actual) and forecast the project outcome. Base line data are compared with the result and outcome of project intervention. Case study with photo will be included.

MRC Nepal will develop M&E system that provides an opportunity for implementing organization to receive stakeholder’s feedback especially for the project beneficiary. The feedback is important in helping the organization to learn and improve. Periodic reflection/review and planning, joint monitoring involving representatives from district stakeholders and beneficiaries and result based management along with result oriented monitoring will be organizing so as ample opportunities will be created for betterment in achieving the proposed objectives on an effective way. This will also contribute for the sustainability of the project interventions beyond project interventions.

MRC Nepal will submit monthly financial report to concerned donors whereas project progress along with financial report quarterly, half yearly and annually will be produced and submitted to the donors. At the end, Project Completion Report will also be submitted.

Sustainability and Exist Strategies

Sustainability of the project:

With the partnership of donors and MRC Nepal has been focusing on building capacity of the low-income households in agricultural and agribusiness activities. The project’s training has targeted throughout in implementing locations wide range of agricultural stakeholders including employees; traders; farmers and agribusiness owners. These efforts have extended from the implementing agency at districts and national level with government employees to business people. The capacity-building efforts will be centered on boosting agricultural crops and its productivity, increasing sales and developing the expertise of participating farmers. As a result of intensive, continuous and targeted training, the project will be able to transfer its core activities to individual at their own and build sustainability of private enterprises so they will continue to operate as profitable enterprises. Capacity-building efforts consistently will be included in the project enabling them to continue activities after the project close. The foundation of the sustainability of MRC Nepal is empowered group (SHG concept), Institutional Development of the group, Group registration in DADO and capacitated in IG activities.

Exist Strategy:

The prime concern and uniqueness of MRC Nepal that has been contributing its development interventions and support services is the sustainability of activities and its impact in a long run. So this organization is absolutely committed from the very beginning to develop such an approach, which could sustainably exit and deliver in a long run. Exactly, for this project the programs implementing approach will be designed in this line and strengthen actively so far. The following will be the strong foundation behind this fact;

  1. Those who will be formed viable community group are registered in government body District Agriculture Development Office (DADO).
  2. Local Human Resources Development (LHRD) as a technical cadre and group mobilizer at grass root level are empowering through various level of capacity building training and technical backstopping support.
  3. Strong coordination, linkage, networking and alliances of community group/leaders with relevant line agencies/ stakeholders in the district at various levels will be carried out.
  4. Formation of producer groups and federating them into Cooperatives for marketing of the product e.g.: marketing Cooperatives of vegetable/milk/meat etc.
  5. Inclusion of the excluded families for their significant participation in mainstream of developmental interventions.
  6. Institutional Development of the Group.
  7. Systematic Marketing Management of Agri product.
